Good movie, good book
Yesterday I went to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
. If you like Jim Carrey, you probably won't like it--not at all his usual slapstick. But if you like Charlie Kaufman (Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Adaptation, Being John Malkovich), you'll probably love it. It's the kind of movie you want to see again, just so you can catch all the subtle stuff you missed the first time. I think Charlie Kaufman is really a master of the filmwriting craft. And I think Jim Carrey is a master when he's directed well, which he is in this movie.
I also read my cousin Pat's latest book, Death by Meeting
. It had a lot of neat insights into why meetings are so boring, and what can be done to make them less boring and more productive. It gave me a lot of things to think about next time I'm in a meeting, which will be, hmm... tomorrow morning.
Now if I were smart and responsible, I would stay home and get a good night's sleep for my meeting. But I could also go into the city and see Eternal Sunshine again at 9:30. Hmm... Current Mood: happy
