Vegan bean curry

This is what I made for akatchoom's חנוכה party Sunday night:

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large yellow onion, chopped
1/2 cup dry lentils
2 cloves garlic, pressed
3 tablespoons curry powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
cayenne pepper to taste
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
1 (8 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup raisins

Sauté the onion in the oil over medium heat, until soft. Add the lentils, garlic, curry powder, cumin, and cayenne, and cook for a few minutes. Add the remaining ingredients, cover, and simmer for about 2 hours. You may need to occasionally add water.
